Job Title: Assistant Controller - Manufacturing
Reports To: Controller / CFO
Team Leadership: Directly manages a team of 6+ accounting professionals
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of our manufacturing business. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience, particularly in managing mid-sized finance teams, and a deep understanding of manufacturing cost structures and inventory accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of 6+ accounting staff, fostering professional development and high performance.
Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end close processes.
Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across departments.
Manage cost accounting functions including standard costing, overhead allocation, and inventory valuation.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and external audit requirements.
Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to align financial reporting with production activities.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Assist the Controller in strategic financial planning and decision-making.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience managing and developing accounting teams.
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
